Vocal music constitutes a large part of the musical repertoire. It’s a source of inspiration for many composers.
Schubert, attracted very early on by poetry - Goethe, Schiller, amongst others, wrote no less than 600 Lieder. Liszt, too, has tackled this exercise but he also composed lots of transcriptions, reminiscences…
